Help Defend Liberty and Justice!
Since 1936 the American Civil Liberties Union of Eastern Missouri (ACLU-EM) has been on the frontline where many civil liberties battles are fought and opportunities to advance civil liberties are first revealed.
Our affiliate’s strategic plan calls for a bold new response to address threats to our fundamental freedoms in our state. Over the next five years we will expand our staff, enhance our regional presence, increase public education efforts, and intensify our efforts at the Missouri Legislature.
We depend on contributions from generous individuals who are committed to advancing freedom in Missouri. Your contribution allows us to immediately respond to civil liberties assaults in our state.
There has never been a more important time to donate to the ACLU-EM Fund. Please join us!

The Difference between joining and donating
The ACLU-EM is comprised of two separate corporate entities: the American Civil Liberties Union of Eastern Missouri and the American Civil Liberties Union of Eastern Missouri Fund. Although both are part of the overall organization, it’s necessary that the ACLU-EM have two separate organizations so that we can more broadly protect civil liberties. Regardless of how you would like to allocate your contribution, you can be confident that your financial contribution will support, promote, and defend civil liberties.
- ACLU of Eastern Missouri FUND
Contributions to this entity are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Our litigation program, public education efforts, and other special projects are supported through the Fund. You will receive a thank you letter from our affiliate acknowledging your support, which you may use for your tax returns. Please note that you will not receive a membership card. Many donors who make philanthropic gifts also make a nominal donation to the ACLU-EM. In that way, you can be both a donor and a member.
Contributions to this entity are not tax-deductible. Lobbying activity at the Missouri Legislature is supported through the American Civil Liberties Union of Eastern Missouri. When you join or renew as a “due paying member”, you will receive a membership card from the national ACLU, headquartered in New York, New York, as a tangible symbol of your commitment to civil liberties issues.
Please Note: Becoming a member of the ACLU of Eastern Missouri automatically makes you a member of the National ACLU plus any chapters in your area. As a member, you will be informed about cutting edge issues, upcoming events, and special opportunities from the ACLU-EM and the national ACLU. A membership with the ACLU is good for one year, after that you will need to renew your membership on a yearly basis. You will receive a notification from the National ACLU when it is time to do so. Your renewal month stays the same from year to year even if you pay early or late. All membership dues are shared equally between our affiliate and National ACLU.
